The Washing Basket

New Clean Fresh Ideas Should Be Out In The Open

Another one of our one week projects during my time studying the Foundation Course...

Whilst spending some time getting to know what the different areas of Art & Design entailed, Visual Communication stood out to me, I really enjoyed creating a sketchbook with the theme `Opposites`.

From this we were to produce a number of Marquette's that visually communicate something, anything in this case. I had the idea of creating two washing baskets which interlock with one another and once pulled apart, a washing line is pouring out a message written on clothes..

I do like this photograph...

I don't know why but I seem to have an obsession with washing lines, whenever we are to exhibit our work I instantly think of hanging it up on a line!

Beach Hut!

So the hard work begins on my Foundation course...

One week 3D project - Challenge on!

Having had 5 one week projects within the different areas of Art & Design, 3D happened to be one of my favorites. We were given the task to create something, anything, 3D. We spent a day playing with a variety of different materials, manipulating them, ripping them, knotting them, as long as the outcomes were three-dimensional. Our project was to create a piece of work from the maquettes that we had made that day. Deep down, I already knew what I wanted to make before we got started with the maquettes [guilty]. A Beach hut! I would happily live in one, on the beach, the peaceful sound of waves crashing all day every day, the sea air, the sand, oh it's all so dreamy! I really wanted to enjoy the experience of making my own little hut, I'd like to think of it as a model of my future home, an initial idea of how i'd like it to look.
A few years back, I went for a lovely week away to Devon, where I discovered this beautiful beach, Woolacombe. One of the first things I noticed was this never ending row of colourful huts, I thought they were amazing! I just wanted to curl up and sleep in one.

mmmmm so lovely...

So the cutting, sawing, sanding, hammering began with the help of my dad!

Hours of time spent in the garage, bonding with the big man, was a success.
